Drooling Puppy No Foul Breath Pesticide

Many non-veterinary grade flea/tick shampoos, collars, and topicals have organophosphates as their primary active ingredient. Some commercial pesticides also have organophosphates as their primary ingredient. Some dogs can be sensitive to these chemical and experience signs of toxicity – drooling is often an early sign of toxicity. However, drooling occuring concurrently with one of these treatments could also merely be coincidence. Therefore, we must also consider that nausea may be the root cause, which is another common cause for drooling in the absense of malodorous breath. All this considered, we suggest that in addition to referring to the organophosphate poisoning link below, that you also make use of our vomiting symptom checker diagnostic. If you still seek further information, please visit our Ask The Vet page to submit a one on one consultation with a licensed veterinarian 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
