  1. Stoney says:

Our cat’s name is Samantha; we picked her up from the local animal shelter. Other than the fact that she does NOT like to be picked up or held by anyone (other than my wife), she seems to be perfectly normal in terms of health and behavior. (We tried to get her to the local DVM, but she absolutely refused to get anywhere near the carrier.) However . . . Over the past six months, she’s lost her facial whiskers and is EXTREMELY fond of having her face scratched, either by herself or either of us (wife and I) – it’s even gotten to the point where she allows/enjoys me to scratch the insides of her ears near the base (her skull) with my knuckle (among all the felines that I’ve had, that’s highly unusual. Within the past two weeks, I’ve also noticed that she spends a great deal of time “washing” her face and cleaning/grooming her front paws. That behavior has led me to think that whatever symptoms she has with regard to her face might be spreading to her paws, too. Aside from the loss of her whiskers, the only apparent symptoms on her face are very small “bumps”, about one to two mm in height and diameter. They’re still furry/fuzzy, but the bumps are definitely there. Your thoughts?

Needless to say, she’s a very precious family member. Thank you for any and all assistance.
