Diabetes
Hyperthyroidism
Intestinal parasites
My cat is a male shorthair who will be 10 years old in April. He has been diabetic for several years. His vet prescribes 2 units of prozinc insulin twice a day. He has lost a significant amount of weight, feels bony, and wants to eat constantly and I mean CONSTANTLY – to the point that it drives me crazy and I don’t know what to do about it. But he only eats a few bites of each can of soft food that I open and wastes most of it, yet comes right back to me and wants me to open another can, then eats a few bites of that can and immediately wants me to open another, etc. ALL DAY. He vomits once or twice a day. He makes a horrible mechanical grinding sound when he is about to do so. Two or three of his teeth have partially fallen out and needed to be pulled. I am so sad, upset, etc. I don’t have a lot of money and don’t want to put him through unnecessary tests that will not help him but would be willing to pay somehow if it were something that could be helped and he could get back to a good quality of life.
